Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Dreamville Records released her debut album titled Pho in the month of October of 2016 when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her own single Bound along with the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. The following year, her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some possible references for Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. The album Revenge of the Dreamers II, she appeared on the track Backseat alongside Cozz. In October 2016 she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and was an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she guest-starred in two of her songs with labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. and Bas in Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. Then, in November, she released her singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed together with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a standalone single in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. The track was made available with a video uploaded to YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been watched over 3 million times within the first 7 days. She was part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
